YouTube Improves Content ID Dispute Policy
A nice enhancement of the Content ID system in favour of content creators. Rather than monetisation just not happening for videos whilst in dispute, the ads stay but any revenue is kept in quarantine until the dispute is resolved on a particular video. When the ruling on video rights is decided, the money is distributed to the appropriate party. Although the payment is delayed, it’s way better than before when false claims would simply render channels unprofitable.
Of course, this means nothing if the resolution process is unfair in its judgement and the content creator forfeits the revenue when its video was legitimate and valid. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen. I haven’t heard from many people who have had bad claims ruled against them so I think it’s rare for that to happen.
