Android 4.0 Doubles Its Share Of Active Android Devices

The Verge:

Google tracks the different version numbers of Android devices that access Google Play (nee Android Market) and every month or two we check in to see how the latest versions are doing. The story this month is that Android 4.0, aka Ice Cream Sandwich, has managed to more than double its share since early April — it’s now at 7.1 percent.

It’s a shame that doubling its share is still terrible. Ice Cream Sandwich remains under-supplied in the Android ecosystem. Gingerbread shows no sign of deprecation, for instance, as it’s share grew to 65%.

Even Froyo, released in May 2010, is nearly three times as pervasive as Ice Cream Sandwich.
